Our Vision
Our vision is for a world in which all people and communities experiencing violent conflict are working for peace by transforming the violence and division into healthy and harmonious relationships.

Our Values

Our Mission
Inspired by the life of Jesus, we live in the communities experiencing the conflict and work for sustainable peace by undertaking practical projects with both sides, fostering positive interaction, reducing enmity, and building stability.

Our Philosophy
Our approach to peacemaking is shaped by four key principles that guide how we engage with each community we work with:
-
At CHIPS, we believe that true peace cannot be imposed from the outside. It must be nurtured within communities, by those who are directly impacted by the conflict. We approach every community with humility, understanding that the desire for peace must come from within. By only going where we are invited, we respect the autonomy and agency of those we serve. Once invited, we spend time listening to the community, understanding their unique needs, challenges, and hopes. This approach ensures that our efforts are welcome and meaningful, creating the space for genuine dialogue and collaboration. We believe that peacemaking is most effective when it grows organically from the people who live in the conflict, and we are honoured to be invited to walk alongside them in that journey. Our role is not to force change, but to listen, support, and empower communities as they shape their own paths toward reconciliation and lasting peace.
-
We believe that true understanding comes from direct experience. To genuinely grasp the challenges faced by communities in conflict, we must live alongside them in the heart of the conflict area. By embedding ourselves within the community, we not only witness the struggles and tensions firsthand, but we also experience the daily realities of those affected. This presence allows us to fully comprehend the difficulties they face, as well as their resilience and way of life. Positive actions and projects that we undertake are designed to defuse tension, foster trust, and create spaces for healing. Our teams are made up of local people who bring their own lived experience from different sides of the conflict, ensuring that our work is rooted in authenticity and mutual understanding. By living within the community, we walk with them, experiencing their journey and building connections that help bridge divides.
-
At CHIPS, we believe in taking sides—but not in the way one might expect. We take the side of both communities affected by conflict, seeking to understand and empathise with everyone’s perspective. Our approach is rooted in the belief that genuine peace comes from fully identifying with each side’s experiences, struggles, and pain without immediately offering an alternative view or solution. This deep listening and understanding create the foundation for meaningful relationships. By building trust with all parties, we show that we are not neutral but committed to both sides’ dignity and humanity. In this process, we bear the enmity and division, just as Jesus did, embodying compassion and understanding even in the face of conflict. Our work is about walking alongside each side, offering support without judgment, and creating spaces for reconciliation and peace where it is most needed.
-
We believe that true peace requires a long-term commitment to the communities we serve. We understand that stability in times of uncertainty is essential for building trust and lasting relationships. Peace is not achieved overnight—it takes years of sustained effort to rebuild what conflict has torn apart. We are dedicated to being present through the highs and lows, when others might walk away. Our approach is grounded in practical actions that meet immediate needs while also nurturing the strengths of the community, empowering them to work together for long-term solutions. We stay with the community through thick and thin, walking alongside them on their journey toward peace. This enduring commitment allows us to build the deep trust and understanding necessary to transform conflict and lay the foundation for sustainable peace.
