What information do we collect

The personal information we collect might include your name, address, email address, IP address, and information regarding what pages are accessed and when. If you make a donation online, your card information is not held by us, it is collected by our third party payment processors (GiveWP), who specialise in the secure online capture and processing of credit/debit card transactions.

Why do we collect information?

We may use your information to:

  • To provide you with information about our work including mailings, events, resources, fundraising and any other services described on our website
  • To process a donation that you have made and make sure we have an accurate record of all donations received
  • To enhance or improve your experience on our website. When you indicate your preferences through our registration forms or through your use of our site, we may use this information to personalise the site to better meet your needs
  • We review our retention periods for personal information on a regular basis. We are legally required to hold some types of information to fulfil our statutory obligations (for example the collection of Gift Aid). We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant activity, or as long as is set out in any relevant contract you hold with us

How do we use it?

CHIPS uses MailChimp to send regular emails. By providing us with your details you are giving CHIPS your express permission to transfer your data to MailChimp. Without this permission CHIPS will not be able to send emails to you.

Who has access to your information?

We will never sell or rent your information to third parties.

We will never share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

How long do we keep it?

How long we keep your information collected through our website depends on the context in which you provided it.

We will keep information that is necessary for us to provide mailings, other resources and for statistical purposes.

We will keep records of any financial transactions you enter into with us for a minimum of six years. This will enable us to meet with accounting requirements and respond to any questions from you that arise during that period. Gift Aid forms and transactions must be kept for a minimum of 12 years after the Gift Aid is no longer valid.

Access and update your information

The accuracy of your information is important to us. We’re working on ways to make it easier for you to review and correct the information that we hold about you.
