'Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrong? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds. Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never prevails. The wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is perverted.

I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax; it is melted within my breast; my strength is dried up like baked clay, and my tongue sticks to my jaws; you lay me in the dust of death.

Great God of love, your creation weeps
Hear the cry of the voiceless
See the pain and injustice perpetrated on your children
You are with all who grieve and mourn the broken kingdom on Earth

On the cross you lay, broken, dead, finished.
We sat hidden in a room, weeping, confused.

How could it end? What about the promises?
But that was not the end.

There was a new beginning,
And when it came it was beyond anything we could have imagined

You broke apart death, you tore up what we thought possible, and you created something wholly new
You created a hope, one of freedom from the numbness and oppression of the present
And you invited us to join you in that creative process.

Lord, as we sit here with all our pain and grief,
draw us through the pit of death, piercing our apathy,
and fill us with your spirit of love to imagine a new hope,

to imagine peace where war seems overwhelming,
to imagine healing where all seems broken
to imagine love where hate seems to have won.

Today, Lord, we have delved into the depths of despair,
Today, Father, we have grieved so much violence

And today, Jesus, you have sat and wept and grieved with us.

Today, Lord, we have pierced the numbness
Today, Father, we have broken free from apathy

And today, Jesus, you have led us through death to new life.

We thank you Holy Spirit that you are are in us always.
Inspire us and free us to imagine the impossible,
Release our hearts from the constraints of the daily grind,
Let us grieve deeply, hope wildly,
And be ready to participate in your incredible creation
As peace is made and your Kingdom comes
On earth as it is in heaven.

Amen'
